Shop With A Cop

Trinidad Police Department hosted its annual Shop with a Cop on Saturday, December 17, 2022.  About 95 kids got a chance to have breakfast with a police officer, ride in a police car or on the Trinidad Trolley, and go shopping at Wal-Mart. Each officers and kids also took a picture with Santa.

"The program is completely funded through donations from our community," said Det. Sgt. Jennifer Lay. "Without the community's generous support, we wouldn't be able to do this."

Officers from Trinidad Police Department, the Las Animas County Sheriff's Office, Port of Entry, Department of Corrections, and the Department of Wildlife all joined in the fun. The joint effort by all of the officers gave the kids a chance to interact with law enforcement in a positive way.

"Seeing all the kids smiling and having fun with cops is what this program is all about," said Chief of Police Charles Glorioso.

We would like to thank all of the officers, volunteers, donors, and the amazing staff at Wal-Mart who lets us take over their toy department for a few hours each December. We look forward to doing it all again next year.

Trinidad Police Department would like to thank the Trinidad Housing Authority, J&M Tire, Canna Company, SRGs Sand and Gravel, Main Street Auto, Griego Insurance, Edward Jones, Bella Luna, Club 14, Trinidad Builders, Tire Shop Wine and Spirits, Big O Tire, Salud Family Health, Trinidad's Higher Calling U, M&M Towing and Repair, Trinidad Rotary Club, Jacobs Engineering, JRs Fuel Stop, New Elk Coal Mine, Trinidad Commercial Construction, Girl Scout Troop 32189, Las Animas Grill and all of the private donors for their continued generosity.
